Because cozy and timeless can still feel light, fresh, and ready for the season.
There’s something about the rhythm of summer that invites us to slow down and shift the mood at home. I don’t do a full seasonal overhaul—but I do like to make a few intentional swaps that help our spaces feel lighter, softer, and just a little more in tune with this time of year.
Nothing bold or trendy. Just timeless textures, breathable layers, and simple touches that bring in that quiet summer charm.
Here are a few of the summer additions I’m loving in our home right now…
One of the easiest ways to shift the feel of a room is by changing how it filters light. I swapped in some soft, airy curtains in a neutral cotton-linen blend, and it completely changed the way the room breathes. They catch the light in the prettiest way and add just enough softness to the space without feeling heavy.
A subtle fabric change can make your whole room feel like it’s taken a deep breath.
I keep a throw blanket out year-round, but in the summer, I swap our heavier knits for something light and breezy. Right now I’m loving a textured cotton throw in a soft ivory tone. It still invites you to curl up on the couch but doesn’t weigh the space down.
It’s one of those little switches that makes the whole room feel fresher—even if nothing else changes.
This time of year, I find myself reaching for woven pieces without even thinking about it—baskets, seagrass trays, jute rugs. They bring in warmth and softness but still feel light and lived-in. I’ve added a couple of cane-wrapped vases and a woven bowl to the entry and kitchen shelves, and I love how they play with the light and the surrounding tones.
Natural textures are the easiest way to bring a bit of summer indoors—without adding visual clutter.
There’s nothing like bringing the outdoors in. Whether it’s clippings from the yard or a simple bundle of faux stems, fresh greens or seasonal florals instantly add life to a space. I’ve been using creamy faux hydrangeas and a few stems of wispy grass lately—they don’t demand attention, but they soften every surface they touch.
Tip: Try placing one stem in a bud vase on the kitchen sink or nightstand. It’s a small gesture that feels incredibly thoughtful.

Simple, useful, and always cozy—that’s the goal.
I think summer styling is less about decorating and more about creating breathing room. Lightening the layers. Letting in softness and ease. And reminding yourself that even the simplest of changes—a swap of a curtain, a floral stem by the sink—can shift the way a home feels.
Here’s to a season of slowing down, cozying up (yes, even in the summer!), and creating space that reflects where you are right now.
