Because whimsy and longevity can live beautifully in the same space.
There’s something really special about designing a space for little girls—a room that feels full of wonder, but still calm and collected. I’ve always believed that you don’t have to choose between playful and timeless. You can have both. You should have both.
In this girls’ room, I leaned into softness and simplicity—layering classic patterns, quiet colors, and just enough charm to invite play and creativity, without overwhelming the senses. It’s sweet, but not overly styled. It will grow and change, just like they will.
Here’s a closer look at the details that brought this space to life.
Rather than bold colors or overly themed choices, I started with a neutral foundation: creamy whites, soft blush, warm wood tones, and a hint of muted florals. These shades feel gentle and calming, while still creating space for personality to shine through in smaller accents.
Choosing a soft, timeless base gives you room to evolve the space as she grows—without having to start over.
The twin beds in this room are one of my favorite elements—white, spindle-style frames that feel both traditional and playful. They’re timeless in shape and give the room a sense of symmetry and calm. I layered them with patterned bedding—subtle but sweet—and topped each with a solid, muted quilt for contrast.
The combination of prints and solids keeps the room feeling balanced, while still giving it that cozy, layered look I love. A single accent pillow on each bed adds personality without overwhelming the space.
Matching beds create structure, while layered bedding brings softness. It’s the perfect blend of polished and playful.
Children’s rooms need to hold a lot—books, clothes, tiny treasures—and it helps when storage doesn’t feel bulky or overly “kiddish.” I love mixing in classic pieces like woven baskets, a vintage-style dresser, or a book ledge that doubles as display.
Designing with storage in mind doesn’t mean sacrificing style—it means making the room work beautifully behind the scenes.
A favorite part of this room is the soft floral wallpaper—it’s subtle enough to feel timeless, but still adds that bit of magic every child’s room needs. I also included a few whimsical touches: a dollhouse, a basket of books, and art that could grow with her.
It’s a room designed to be lived in—not just looked at.
Whimsy doesn’t have to shout. Sometimes it’s in the softest details—the ones they’ll remember most.
Designing a space for a child—especially a space where she’ll grow, imagine, and rest—is such a gift. My hope with this room was to create something lasting… not just in look, but in how it feels. Calm. Inviting. Full of light.
